Winter Tablescape

Winter Tablescape: beautiful Christmas or winter table with DIY mini house candle holders and place card holders.

I'm excited to share my winter tablescape with you today. This scheme would be pretty for any winter table. We used it as our Christmas table this year, and I just love how it turned out.

Wood House Candle Holders

I saw a version of these cute little houses, and really wanted to try and make some. I mentioned it to my awesome brother-in-law, who just happens to work in a place that has a workshop (I’m just slightly jealous) and I was able to meet him there on the Saturday afternoon before Christmas and he whipped these up for me. The bases are scraps of wood, and the chimneys are made of small pieces of copper pipes. So simple, and so beautiful.

We thought it might be fun to make some different sizes, and these very mini versions have a birthday candle for their little chimneys. Won’t they be fun on a cake for a birthday?

Wood House Place Card Holders

We also made some little place card holders. I bent a piece of copper wire around a round dowel to make a clip to hold the place card, and then we drilled a tiny hole in the little houses and inserted the wire.

Cement Houses

Along with the wooden houses, my brother-in-law Shaun also made these wonderful little cement ones, and I added some gold, copper, or silver leaf to the roofs.

Placesettings

For each pacesetting I set the table with the rustic wooden chargers that we made for Thanksgiving.

I love the contrast of the rustic wood, along with the fine china, and all the gold, silver, and copper that went with our theme this Christmas.

I picked up the pretty napkins with cold and silver dots, and the Christmas crackers are just from the dollar store.

Aren't the little salt and pepper shakers cute? I couldn’t resist them when I decided on the little house theme for the table.

I just love how my little village of houses, snow and Christmas trees looked for our cozy, rustic winter tablescape. With a winter tablescape this pretty, and family and friends to gather round it to celebrate, life really is a party!
