Pink and Mustard Yellow Summer Decor -tips for changing your decor seasonally and adding fun and interest to your space with a pop of colour.
Jump to:
Changing my decor seasonally is one of the things I really love about having a neutral base. It's easy to change up a few things like art, throw pillows, and candles, to create a fresh new look. This summer I'm loving the combination of different shades of pink and mustard yellow. It feels fun and fresh for summer. I've put together a few tips to help you create your own summer look in your home.
Add Summery Images and Objects
This whole summer vignette, which is in my entrance way, was really inspired by this beautiful artwork. I found it at JessaMaePhoto in her etsy shop. I wanted something with some of my summer colours in it, and that felt like the season. This Carnival Art piece ticks all the boxes and makes me want to go to a summer fair, and stay out late on the rides and eating cotton candy like I did as a kid.
The fan and summer garden flowers seem like the perfect summery additions as well.
Shop Your House
For the rest of this look I shopped my house. This beautiful vintage fan has been up in my bedroom since I re-did it for the One Room Challenge last spring -see the reveal here. It's such a great old piece, and feels like summer, so it was perfect for this summery vingette.
Add Sentiment and Interest With Vintage Finds
Not only did I already have the fan, but it's the perfect vintage piece to add to this vignette. I always find a vintage piece or two helps a vignette feel collected over time and layered. It also feels a little sentimental. I have so many memories of hot summer days in my Grandma's kitchen and dining room. She loved to cook which made the rooms even hotter in summer and there was no air conditioning in her old farm house. The fan was always on. The sound of any old fan always makes me think of her.
Add Some Texture
The pretty bead garland adds a little texture and touch of my summer colours of pink and mustard yellow. It was really inexpensive to make and an easy DIY. Since wood beads can get expensive, I actually used an old wood bead car seat cover that I found at a garage sale for the beads. I took it apart to use the beads. I used some craft paint to colour just a few and randomly strung them. Then I made a few yarn tassels in the same colours and added those as well.
You are my sunshine seemed like the perfect summery message on my letter board. I like how the wood trim works with the beads, and the wood floor too.
Add A Pop Of Fun Colour For Summer
This pink and mustard yellow colour scheme is a new one for me, and so far I love it. It feels fresh and fun for summer. To add a little more of my favourite summer colours, I actually spray painted these little thrift store vases -more on that coming soon. The pretty flowers are from my garden, and another great way to add a pop of colour to any decor.
This fun summery vignette was fun to put together, and the perfect welcome to our home by the front door. I hope my tips are helpful.
