These Easy One Bowl Brownies are a real old family favourite around here.
A Family Favourite
I grew up on them. When I was in grade five my mom went from being a stay-at-home mom, to working as a housekeeper 3 mornings a week at, what we called at the time “the mansion”. There was also a full-time cook named Rose.
Rose made these chewy brownies at least once a week, and sometimes more, and it wasn’t long before my mom was making them too. They’re super easy. These are the best brownies, and that soon made them a staple at our house too.
Last week when my youngest Maddie decided she wanted brownie sundaes for her her birthday, I turned to my old standby one bowl brownie recipe.
I hadn’t made them for a while, and I have to say I was reminded how easy and yummy they were, and realized I’d never shared them here on Life is a Party before. If you don’t have a go-to brownie recipe, then now you do. ;). Introducing what is sure to become one of your favorite brownie recipes next time you have a brownie craving.
Don't Over Bake
Perfect brownies should be fudgy and kind of gooey inside, so be sure not to over bake these. Follow the timing on the recipe. These have a lovely crinkly top, and chewy fudgy middle. My personal favorite are the chewy brownie edges at the edges of the pan.
Homemade Vs. Box Mixes
If you've ever worried that making brownies from scratch will be too hard or time consuming then these are the right recipe for you. These one-bowl brownies are really easy to make, so no more clean up than from a box mix. These easy brownies are cheaper to make from scratch then from a brownie mix and they're more delicious too. And these brownies are made with items from the grocery store you probably have in your pantry right now, so you can whip them up anytime for an easy dessert. We use semi-sweet chocolate chips, so no special unsweetened chocolate or baker's chocolate is necessary for this great recipe. They're really great served with ice cream and this hot fudge sauce, or just on their own.
We used our easy crackly top homemade brownies as part of some brownie sundaes, with toppings like chocolate sauce, peanut butter, and whipped cream. These chocolate brownies also delicious with a scoop of ice cream on top of the brownies. These easy homemade brownies are also a great lunch box treat, and because they're so quick and easy to make they're even great to bake last minute.I hope your family loves them as much as we do.

Hi Myrna,
The recipes calls for semi-sweet chocolate. You can use semi-sweet chocolate chips or semi-sweet bakers chocolate. Just check the box of the bakers chocolate and make sure it's the semi-sweet, since it's available in different varieties. Hope this helps.
