Syrup Can Flower Vases
For the table, we used maple syrup cans for vases.
I love that they have painted on labels, and such pretty pictures of little maple sugar shacks, and lots of forest trees. The blue in the cans inspired the color scheme of light blue for the party. Look for these at the grocery store, and just pour the syrup into a bottle or pitcher, was the can and use for your flowers. I've saved mine to use year after year for Pancake Tuesday. It's such a fun party detail. We kept the rest neutral with natural brown kraft paper and lots of white.
Baby’s breath makes the perfect centerpiece of simple flower arrangements.

Pancake Sugar Cookies
I also made a batch of Pancake Sugar Cookies. We used our favourite sugar recipe and round cookie cutter to make them. They turned out so cute -find the recipe for the pancake sugar cookies here. They’re easy to make, and such a fun detail. I added one to each place setting, and one of the little girls who loves sugar cookies was asking us “where are the sugar cookies?” she thought they were actual pancakes, so I guess that was a good sign, lol. These would also be a really fun addition to a party favors if you were hosting a pancakes and pajamas party birthday party.
Pancake Buffet
The highlight of the whole party was of course the pancakes! We set up a whole pancake bar where guests could help themselves to their own pancakes and all the fixings. The topping bar was a huge hit with party guests. Everyone loved being about to add their favorite things and make the perfect pancake.

My husband makes fluffy pancakes from scratch buttermilk pancakes -find the best recipe here. For this special occasion he made a double batch.
We had a few different kinds of pancakes. He made some plain original pancakes, and some made with blueberries, and some made with chocolate chips- YUM!
We also made some sweet strawberry shortcake stacks of mini pancakes. I love how these look, and they were delicious too.
Pancake Toppings
We offered lots of fun toppings for the pancakes, and they were really easy to put together.
We used simple mason jars for the toppings. I love this party idea because it look great, and was easy for guests to access. We offered different fresh berries, along with some sprinkles, since it was a party. I also made a little whipped cream. And of course, we had to have lots of real maple syrup -we are Canadian after all.
I also had some more of the cute pancake sugar cookies -see the recipe here, on the pancake buffet.
Since it was dinner, we also fried up some bacon and sausages. The perfect savoury accompaniment to lots and lots of pancakes on our breakfast bar.
Orange Juice and Mimosas
For drinks, I offered guests some orange juice, since it seems like the perfect accompaniment to pancakes. And for the grown-ups, I picked up a bottle of sparkling wine, so we could turn our orange juice into mimosas. Special Tuesday night treat, haha.
This little party was so much fun and we had a great time. Whether you set up something like this, or just print out our pancake jokes and make your kids pancakes for dinner, I hope you’re feeling inspired! We had so much fun celebrating pancake Tuesday, but these would also be great ideas for a pancakes and pajamas birthday party too.
