Modern Boho Christmas Wreath: easy DIY non-traditional Christmas wreath with pom poms, and tassels.
We love boho style and this beautiful Christmas wreath is perfect for adding to your Christmas decorations. This wreath is simple to make and adds so much personality to your space.
Outdoor Wreath
I love this very simple Modern Boho Christmas Wreath. It is really quick and easy to put together and is a little something different. It's the perfect wreath for a little front porch sparkle for Christmas. Create a welcoming entrance with this whimsical bohemian wreath on your front door. It's safe for outdoor use -no need for any protective spray. Let it take center stage for greeting your guests during the holiday season.
Indoor Wreath
This wreath would also be great as part of your indoor holiday decor. Use fresh greens like we did, or swap them out for faux winter greens if you want to make this wreath everlasting, or avoid any mess indoors from natural elements. Hang it on an indoor door, or over your fireplace. This wreath would be lovely as part of your decor after Christmas too. Use as a winter wreath, by changing the item's color. Exchange the red tassel for something that matches your regular home decor, and enjoy this wreath for a long time after the holiday season. It's a great way to bring lots of texture and interest to any boho decor.
Wreath For Gift Giving
A beautiful and easy handmade wreath like this one would also make an perfect gift for a special friend. I think anyone would love it as a wonderful hostess gift as well for anyone who loves boho wreaths.
Equipment
- Pom Pom maker
Materials
- birch branch -about 2'
- twine
- wire
- fresh greens
- yarn -deep red white, and black
- wooden beads
Instructions
- Start by tying some twine to each end of your birch branch for hanging.
- Add some Christmas greens -either fresh or faux with some wire. I used some fresh white pine for mine.
- Make some pom poms and tassels with some yarn, using a pom pom maker or a piece of cardboard. To make the pom pom with cardboard, wrap yarn around a rectangle of cardboard that's about 1 inch tall. Tie a longer piece of yarn around the middle of the wrapped strands on one side, and cut the wrapped yarn in the center on the opposite side that it's tied. Then use your scissors to trim the pom pom into a ball shape. To make a tassel, wrap yarn around a 2 ½ inch piece of cardboard. Tie the wrapped yarn at the top with a long piece of yarn. Cut the wrapped yarn at the bottom. Then tie another piece about 1 inch from the top, around all the yarn pieces. Trim the bottom so that it's even.
I used black and white, and a little red to make it Christmas-y. There are three pom poms on mine, along with 4 tassels. I also added a few wooden beads to the 2 of the tassels in natural wood, white, black and one gold for a little Christmas sparkle. You could make these in any colours to match the rest of your Christmas decor. If you didn't want to add pom poms and tassels you could try adding pinecones, berries, or bells with some hot glue, and tie on a traditional ribbon. - Attach the pom poms and tassels to your wreath with yarn or wire, about ⅓ of the way from the end of the birch branch.
Other Options:
We love the rustic feel of the birch branch base for this boho wreath. If you didn't have birth though, you could make a similar wreath with a unique rustic vine base from the craft store. Choose your wreath size depending on where your placing it. You'll want a large size for a front door, or over a large fireplace. Another great option for the wreath base is to use a metal hoop. I warm brass colour would also give all the boho vibes and be a great option for this wreath too.
Part of the beauty of this wreath is how simple it is. The pom poms, beads and tassels are the perfect boho additions. Other options would be to swap out the tassels for golden bells or pine cones. If you were making this wreath for year round use, you might change out the fresh greens for some pampas grass for another great boho option.
I love how simple this wreath is and the pom poms and tassels add the boho feel that makes it feel very on trend for the season..

Love this! Especially the fringe you have hanging down! I did a triangle wreath for the fall this year (great minds think alike!) and loved it!
