Frozen Themed Rice Krispie Treats: inspired by Disney's Frozen these snowflake rice Krispie cookies are perfect for your Frozen themed party.
Do you want to build a snowman? How about Frozen themed rice krispies treats? These are perfect for any Elsa lovers in your life. They're easy to make and a really delicious fun dessert, and guaranteed to be a hit with anyone who's obsessed with the Disney Frozen movie.
My sweet God-daughter Tara was turning 7, and having a Frozen themed party to celebrate. You can read all about all the details of the fun Frozen themed birthday party here. I thought it might be fun to make something Frozen inspired for the party. I came up with these sweet Frozen themed Rice Krispie Treats. They’ve got everything going for them: chocolate, and rice krispie squares. They're a really great homemade treat for a party, or to make any day feel like a party!
How To Make Frozen Themed Rice Krispie Treats
1. Make Rice Krispie Squares
I started out making regular old rice krispie squares, the classic treat, but made them a little thinner than usual, so they’d be easier to cut out with a cookie cutter. I sprayed a cookie sheet with baking spray first. Then I spread the cereal mixture out so it was about ¾ of an inch thick. It didn’t fill the entire pan. Once they were set I used a snowflake cookie cutter and cut them up. And, forced myself not to eat every last piece of scrap from in-between. Then again, chef's treat. 😉
2. Dip In Melted Chocolate
Next comes dipping the Frozen rice krispie treats in melted chocolate. I have a great tip for you: put the snowflake shaped rice krispies, with a lollipop stick inserted into them in your freezer for a while before you dip them. If not, the hot melted chocolate makes the marshmallow in the cookies start to melt…and then you’ll finally see what frozen things do in summer…. So learn from my mishaps and pop them in the freezer first, or if it’s -19 degrees outside, put them out on your deck for a little while like I did yesterday.
Melt your chocolate in a double boiler, and dip them in. Use a spoon to help you get all the tricky spots. Once they’re dipped, let them set on some parchment paper. You could just dip the top in, if you wanted. I wanted the chocolate to coat the whole square and keep it nice and fresh, since I made these a few days before the party.
3. Pipe A White Chocolate Snowflake
Next, I melted some white chocolate in a mini-ziplock bag and piped on the snowflake detail. Some of them got sprinkles, edible glitter, or coarse sugar too for a little sparkle.
The chocolate covering on these frozen rice krispy treats really seals them, and makes them stay fresh longer than regular rice krispy treats. You can make them a day or two ahead of time. These would be great take home treats in a favor bag too. Just package them in individual cellophane bags tied with some ribbon for a really cute gift.
We had so much fun at the Frozen birthday party and the Frozen theme rice krispie treats were a real hit with everyone. These delicious treats really looked like something we could have purchased on a trip to Walt Disney World. These homemade rice krispie treats would be a great addition to a Frozen party dessert table as one of the themed treats. This easy recipe is such a favorite and sure to be a crowd pleaser.
Recipe
"Frozen" Inspired Chocolate Rice Krispie Treats
Ingredients
- ¼ cup butter
- 10 oz. package of large or mini marshmallows
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 5 ½ cups rice krispies cereal
- 1 cup blue chocolate candy melts
- ¼ cup white chocolate candy melts
- lollipop sticks
- sprinkles
Instructions
- Melt butter and marshmallows over medium heat in a large saucepan, stirring occasionally until fully melted.
- Remove from the heat and add vanilla extract to the melted marshmallows and butter mixture.
- Stir in the rice krispie cereal and work quickly to combine.
- Spray a large cookie sheet with cooking spray, and pour rice crispy treats mixture onto the cookie sheet. Make a layer about ¾ inch thick. Use a spoon dipped in cold water or sprayed with cooking spray to spread the melted marshmallow mixture so it doesn't stick. Let them set at room temperature.
- After the cereal treats are set, use a cookie cutter to cut out the snowflake shapes. If you are having trouble pressing the cookie cutter through the rice krispies, spray the cutter with baking spray, and use a small cutting board on top of the cookie cutter to push it through. Then add a lollipop stick to each snowflake. Now, put the rice krispies in the freezer for about 30-60 minutes.
- Melt your blue chocolate in a double boiler or in a microwave-safe bowl. Dip the chilled snowflake rice krispie treats into the chocolate and use a spoon to help cover the entire treat in chocolate. Set the treat on a parchment paper lined baking sheet to set. If the melted candy melts are too thick for easy dipping add a little melted vegetable shortening to make it runnier and easier to work with.
- After the blue chocolate is set, melt the white candy melts, and place in a ziploc bag. Snip the corner off to make a piping bag, and add a snowflake detail in white chocolate to each of the rice krispie treats. While the white chocolate is still wet and not set, sprinkle it with coarse sugar, sprinkles, or edible glitter. Let set, and store in an airtight container or individual cello bags.

Hi Mary,
This post isn't really set up as a recipe, more like a list of what I did. You could cut and paste it into a document, or just print from the internet to include the pictures. Sorry I couldn't be more help.
