These chocolate mousse Easter eggs are easy to make and so delicious. They're a perfect little Easter dessert, sure to delight adults and children alike at your Easter table. Any chocolate lover will love them. They're also a perfect light finish to a big special occasion meal. Not to mention how cute and adorable they are! Spring is the perfect time to make them. It's a great way to serve some Easter chocolate this year, that's a little bit different.
Who doesn’t love chocolate mousse, and it’s made all the better here, piped into hollow chocolate Easter eggs for the cutest Easter presentation.
The Hallow Easter Eggs
I picked up a package of hollow Easter eggs, and cut the tops off, so they were all ready to pipe the chocolate mousse into. You will want to work carefully for this step, and maybe buy a few extras, just in case you have a little breakage. I found a sharp serrated knife and a sawing action worked best. Remember not to apply too much pressure when you're cutting the tops of hollow Easter eggs off because they are quite fragile.
Our cream mixture was enough to make 1 ½ dozen Easter eggs, but it will depend on the size of your chocolate eggs. Look for large chocolate eggs about the size of a real large egg. If you're filling less hollow chocolate eggs, just cut the chocolate mousse recipe in half.
Filling The Eggs
Use a piping bake or a ziplock bag with the corner snipped off to make it really easy to fill the eggs. This was the perfect way to get the chocolate mousse down to the bottom of the inside of the egg and to fill it without making a mess.
How To Serve The Chocolate Mousse Easter Eggs
When we were ready to serve our little treats, we added the perfect little topping of whipped cream, and a teeny wee little chocolate Easter bunny. I found the perfect little teeny, tiny bunny sprinkles at the dollar store, but regular sprinkles, or chocolate shavings would work really well too.
We served our chocolate mousse eggs in a ceramic egg holder. You could also use the plastic egg holder that the chocolate eggs came packaged in. You could also also serve them in individual egg cups.
