Easy Halloween Ghost Themed Food Ideas: easy recipes and food ideas, perfect for a Halloween party, or a night at home with your boo.
Ghost Food Ideas
It's almost Halloween and the time of the year to enjoy lots of ghost Halloween foods with your little goblins, or for you and your boo. We put together this snack tray of ghost themed food as the perfect party platter for your Halloween party, a family night with kids, or for your at home movie night with the girls or someone special. It was so much fun thinking up all these ghost themed food ideas, and they were all so easy to make and so yummy.
Ghost Pizza
We used mini naan bread to make little Halloween ghosts pizzas. This is one of our favourite easy Halloween recipes. The mini size was super cute, and the perfect oval shape. If you can't find minis, you can also make larger ghost pizzas with regular naan bread or pitas.
We started by topping our mini naan bread with some pizza sauce and then added shredded mozzarella cheese to cover the tops. We made little ghost eyes with sliced black olives. The eyes might move around a little as the pizza cooks, so feel free to move them back into position when you remove them from the oven, or add the olives after cooking. Bake the mini pizzas at 350° for about 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbling.
Ghost Chips and Snacks
We were on the look out for ghost shaped snacks and we found Utz "Ghost Puffs" white cheddar flavoured cheese puffs.
We also grabbed some Ghosts and Bats crispy potato snacks at Trader Joe's. These were a great addition to our snack board. Look for ghost themed salty snacks at the grocery store leading up to Halloween.
Boo-berry Ghost Pies
We made spooky blueberry hand pies shaped like ghosts. This recipe was super easy to make, and so cute.
Start with some pre-made pie pastry from the refrigerator section of the grocery store. Roll out the sheets and use a knife or large ghost cookie cutter to cut out two matching ghost pieces for each pie. On one piece of the pastry spread out a few tablespoons of canned blueberry pie filling. On the other pastry piece, use a small round cookie cutter, or the large side of a metal icing tip to cut out two large round eyes. Then place this piece directly on top of the other piece, and use a fork around the outside to seal the ghost pie. We were able to make 5 ghosts out of a double crust pastry. Bake the ghost pies at 350°, for about 15 minutes, until the pastry begins to brown. Let them cool, and then ice the tops of the pies with some white icing.
Ghost Chocolate Covered Strawberries
Make some ghost covered strawberries by dipping some strawberries in melted white chocolate. Be sure to wash and dry the strawberries first, and carefully remove the leaves. Melt some white chocolate in the microwave. If the chocolate is too thick, thin it with some vegetable shortening. Completely cover the strawberries and then place them on parchment paper to set.
Add a ghost face to the chocolate covered strawberries using some black icing. Be sure to store these in the refrigerator.
Ghost Cookies
Another fun addition to our ghostly food ideas were these easy ghost cookies. We started out with Milano cookies from the grocery store. You can also use nutter butter cookies for a similar ghost shape. Melt some white chocolate in the microwave. If it's too thick you can thin it with a little vegetable shortening. Dip the front of the cookies into the white chocolate and let them set on some parchment paper.
While the chocolate is still wet add some little black candy eyes or and some star sprinkles. Or let the chocolate set and then add some melted dark chocolate eyes using a ziplock bag with the corner sniped off to pipe the eyes, or use some black icing. These are such an easy and yummy ghost dessert idea.
Ghost Peanut Butter Cups
We found a few fun premade ghost foods and ghost desserts to include on our spooky snack tray of ghostly foods, including these ghost shaped peanut butter cups.
Look for them in the candy section at the grocery store, with all the Halloween treats. We unwrapped some and add them to our boo-cuteire tray. If you're a fan of peanut cups, you'll love the taste of these ghost version ones.
Ghost Marshmallows
Ghost peep marshmallows were a fun addition to our ghost treats. Look for them with the Halloween candy and goodies at the store.
They'd also be a great addition to some white hot chocolate, or make Halloween s'mores with them for another tasty Halloween ghost treat idea.
Ghost Rice Krispie Treats
We love rice Krispie treats so we had to make some these when we were thinking up ghost snacks.
We made our regular rice Krispie squares and cut them into ghost shapes, and then put them on a stick for extra fun. The rice Krispie treats are then dipped into melted white chocolate and the eyes are made from simple chocolate chips. These ghost Halloween treats are so delicious.
