Ladybug Birthday Party: this ladybug themed 1st birthday party is full of fun ideas for activites, decor, and a ladybug inspired dessert table.

Today was the first birthday party of one of my very favourite babies, Allie. She has the sweetest nature, and deserved a super sweet first birthday. Her mom put together the sweetest ladybug theme birthday party and they were everywhere! This is a great party idea for a little girl, it could also be fun for a baby shower. It's such a fun theme and love all the little lady bug touches, and the colour scheme of red and pink.
Entrance Party Decor
The party was in the backyard. When we arrived we were greeted by a beautiful display of ribbon, including red polka dot ribbons on the front railing and a welcoming bouquet of paper lanterns on the front gate. Red balloons would work great here too, instead of paper lanterns. You could even add black polka dots or find ladybug balloons. There were so many creative ideas used for the ladybug decor.
The path to the backyard party area was lined with cute ladybug pinwheels. This was the perfect way to set the theme for the party.
Ladybug Party Activities
The backyard was full of fun activities. Our crowd was younger children, so a little young for lots of organized party games, so small activities like these that they could all do at their own pace all afternoon was perfect.
Craft Station
There was a craft set up on the deck, to decorate your own ladybug fairy wand craft kits, with sparkly pom-poms, googly eyes, and glitter glue. There's one of my little ladybugs hard at work.
Water Play Centre
There was also a little ladybug swimming pool and sprinkler set up for some water fun.
Pin The Ladybug On The Leaf
There was also a beautiful handmade game of pin the ladybug on the leaf, and each child's name had been made into a cute little ladybug button. It was such a cute idea for DIY ladybug games.
There were lots of other little ladybug touches everywhere. The backyard swing had inflatable ladybugs on it, the tree had a ladybug windsock blowing in the breeze, and there was a cozy quiet spot set up for little loungers with a ladybug pillow. The attention to detail was amazing and made the party so special!
Ladybug Lunch
After activities it was time for a lovely lunch and an amazing dessert table.
The kids had their own picnic table and sweet ladybug picnic containers complete with fork and spoon, for everyone to take home after.
There were cute ladybug table decorations all over the food table, stuffed ones as weights on the paper plates and napkins, ladybug magnets on metal containers, and handmade matching ladybug tablecloths made from some fabric my friend found at the fabric store. If you couldn't find lady bug fabric, you could always use red with black spots for a really fun tablecloth.
A lot of the small ladybug decor touches and ladybug party supplies were inexpensive or dollar store finds. It seems like once you decide on a themed party like this, you start to see items everywhere.
Ladybug Dessert Table
Of course my favourite part of the party was the incredible party food and dessert table!
There were beautiful homemade cupcakes made by the birthday girls mom Heather. They were so delicious! All three designs were so beautiful.
One design was different flowers in buttercream icing. There were pansies, carnations, and daisy-like blossoms with gumdrop centres.
She also made amazing sunflowers, with Oreo and mini-Oreo centres, and beautiful little sugar ladybug decorations.
Heather also made amazing pink ladybug cupcakes. Their cute little bodies were made from marshmallow cookies, covered in pink icing. I love the heart sprinkle eyes. I love cupcakes instead of birthday cake for a party like this because there's no need to cut them, and they're the perfect size for kids.
There was also ladybug sugar cookies, in pink and red frosting, with chocolate chip black dots or jube-jube polka dots.
I made ladybug cakepops for the party.
There was also flower pot desserts. Heather made dirt pudding with chocolate pudding and cookie crumbs, put them in a clean new plastic flower pots, added candy rocks, and sugar cookie flower lollipops. They were adorable and so delicious! It was like a magical garden for the ladybugs.
There were also lots of ladybug chocolates, and sweet details like pictures of the birthday girl during her first year.
Everyone had a great time, including the birthday girl herself!
Ladybug Loot Bags
And the fun didn't end when the party did, because Heather had made beautiful party favors for all the kids. My girls couldn't wait to open their goody bags. They were full of fun favors and ladybug toys and a big hit with the kids.
This was such a special day to celebrate a little lovebug. With a ladybug party theme, life really is a party!
