DIY Macrame Feathers

- Start by lying down your centre piece folding it in half, with the fold at the top. This will become the top of the ornament for hanging it on the tree.
- Then lie the first side piece underneath of the centre one, also folded in half.
- Next, bring another side piece folded in half, up through the loop of the other side piece.
- Now, put the end of the first piece through the loop of the second piece.
- Pull the ends to tighten up the knot.
- You've made your first knot.
- Next, lie your side cord under the centre one again, but from the opposite side.
- Thread a second side piece through the loop, and put the other ends through its loop, just like you did the first time, and tighten into your second knot.
- Continue all the way down the centre, alternating each side. Pushing the knots up from the bottom of the centre piece to tighten them.
- Finally, trim the edges to make your feather shape.
- Brush out the rope with a comb to create the fringe effect, and retrim any spots that need it.
